Reduce Reuse Recycle

Ron Stock and Herbal Path SmartCarEvery day employees at The Herbal Path offer to recycle your empty bottle of vitamins. Why? We want to ensure it gets disposed of properly and that it does not end up in a landfill. The trash may not go out every day and that is just fine- we don't need to fill our oceans with over-processed, under used plastic bags. We feel that it is of utmost importance to keep our Earth as green as possible. Another reason the Owner, Ron Stock, drives a smart car. Getting 41 miles per gallon, the car may be little, but it sure is smart! Ranked as the country’s most fuel efficient, non-hybrid, gasoline-powered vehicle on sale today, it also uses less materials to produce, is certified by the EPA as a "Smartway" vehicle, and is also classified as an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).  And did you know that 95% of the vehicle is recyclable and the dash material is made from recycled synthetics? In addition, the "smartville" factory in Hambach, France, where the vehicle is produced, is one of the most modern and environmentally friendly plants in the world! This is something we value here at The ‘Path and work with to build a better environment.

And although we recycle paper and cardboard, we still re-use a lot of it! We always encourage our customers to refrain from taking a bag and reward them for doing so with our Token Donation Project (see below). A paper bag costs us anywhere from 3 to 7 cents per bag, and while we have ‘corn’ hybrid bags that will compost into the earth much faster than any plastic will, these bags still leave an imprint. One of our biggest paper-eaters is our newsletter. Printing six to ten issues of the Herbal Path newsletter per year (with an average of 5,000 copies of each issue) takes more than 128 cubic feet of wood, and nearly all of that ends up in the trash or recycle bin. Since 2009 we have switched over to an email newsletter to keep people up to date on what's happening here at the Herbal Path in an easy-to-read, environmentally friendly way.
