Solar Energy
Since 2001, the Herbal Path has produced about 10-20% (season dependent) of our own electricity with solar panels installed on our roof. By doing so, we alleviate excess use of energy from elsewhere, which can then be used by others who need it. In an effort to be more socially responsible we undertook this program almost a decade ago when the technology was first jumping into our realm. On a ten-year payoff, and while electrical costs have gone up, we are able to start saving. We would love to expand the system and be 100% renewable from solar energy as well as other green sources. We, of course, have switched over our lights and systems to be as green as possible, and although we still have refrigerator units that use up energy, we could not ensure quality products at this time without them.
Looking forward, we have a fair amount of wind coming from our North side and would love to install a wind turbine for more sustainable energy renewal. It’s all a part of valuing our community and being forward moving in our environmentally stressed world.
