Body Care Product Standards
protect your skin, protect your body
Do you know what is really in your toothpaste or deodorant? A lot of them are filled with cheap toxic ingredients (like gasoline byproducts!) that not not only harm your skin and your hair, but your health too.
No need to worry! We are proud to partner with companies that are not only committed to making the best quality products, but who also give back to their communities through Fair Trade projects, dedication to sustainability, rejection of animal testing, and community empowerment.
The Herbal Path staff assures that each product carried on our shelves has been evaluated. Our products are derived from the Earth, the formulations are simple, and we do our best to carry products that are made from natural ingredients and gentle preservatives.
"THE DIRTY DOZEN" CHEMICALS
Preservatives: Preservatives, whether chemical or natural, are meant to protect the other ingredients of the product from going bad. They are typically needed for products that are water-based.
Surfactants: Surfactants are used to clean, degrease, and emulisfy. Chemical based surfactants can be too harsh on the skin, and actually ridoff essential fatty acids.
Fragrance: A catch-all term for any chemical which adds an aroma to a product. These are often synthetic or highly processed chemicals. However, natural fragrances derived from essential oils can actually provide aromatherapy benefits.
