It's early April folks and it's time to start thinking about allergy season. If you're bothered by seasonal allergies—especially by the early spring pollens and those pesky tree pollens (think Pine) that get blown around later in the month and on into May—you might want think...Nettles! One of my early teachers, David Hoffmann used to say, "When in doubt use Nettles!"
Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) may not sound like a friendly plant to you, but it is one of the best herbs we have at our disposal. David and other teachers & herbalists I know will often recomend taking Nettles teas, tinctures, or capsules starting 2-3 weeks before allergy season gets going.
Stinging nettles may be one of best plants for our health and the health of the planet. They are loaded with vitamins and minerals as well Flavones like Quercetin, which is very helpful in slowing down the histamine response.
