Jessica joined The Herbal Path in 2014 as the manager of the Dover location. After attending cosmetology school to build her knowledge of healthy hair and skin, she spent 10 years in the wellness industry, giving her an extensive background in helping people with nutrition and exercise. In 2024, Jessica was promoted to Senior Store Manager, where she continues to share her passion for health and wellness with both customers and staff.

Since joining The Herbal Path, Jessica has deepened her passion for herbalism by expanding her understanding of whole-body systems and the diverse actions of herbs. She continues to learn under the guidance of our in-house herbalist, Mimi Alberu. Recently completing the Reading The Body course at Earthsong Herbals with herbalist Margi Flint, Jessica is working on completing an Astro-Herbalism course with herbalist Sajah Popham. Jessica also studied the gut brain connection and completed the Understanding the Gut Brain Connection training with Dr. Lisa Goehler.

When Jessica isn’t working, she is often immersed in her herbal practices at home. She loves to grow medicinal herbs, create her own tinctures, and make customized formulations for friends and family. Her passion for helping others feel empowered as they take control of their health and achieve their health goals has led her to offer one-on-one consultations with customers.

Jessie

Dover Herbalist

Hi there! My name is Jessie, and I am an herbalist and assistant manager here at The Herbal Path in Dover, NH. I obtained undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular/Cellular Biology, and Psychology in 2022 from the University of New Hampshire. I participated in behavioral neuropharmacology research, assessing the neurobiological influence of nicotine and alcohol on cognition and behavior, also earning an independent research award during this time.

My work is shaped by academia and lived experience; through adolescence and young adulthood I spent much of my earnings as a bartender on independent travel across the world where I sought to understand health through culture, food, and indigenous medicine. From training muay thai in Isaan region of Thailand, to dancing with the Mama’s in Longito district of Tanzania, to volunteering in the jungles of Uvita, Costa Rica, these experiences have ignited a passion for bridging gaps in healthcare using alternative and complementary care such as herbs, acupuncture, breathwork, and martial arts.

After graduating university I came to The Herbal Path and also began my herbal studies at Misty Meadows in Lee, NH. My first herbal ally was Violet (Viola odorata), and my favorite animal is the bear, the panda bear to be specific! I left for my walkabout around south east Asia the following year, and recently found my way back here to The Herbal Path, and I am so happy to

be back!

My favorite part of this job is the opportunity to discuss the foundations of health and how to optimize them with hopes to empower individuals to reconnect with their bodies, their environment, and of course the healing potential of herbs.

Peter in the garden

Peter

Store Herbalist,
Portsmouth & Dover

I have always had a deep love of nature, plants and traditional ways of healing. I completed an herbalism apprenticeship program at Misty Meadows in 2017. Since then I have been an avid forager; finding or growing herbs to make tinctures, salves and other natural products. For the last 9 years I have also been a farm manager of multiple vegetable farms around Seacoast NH. I am very passionate about connecting people back to nature, sharing my knowledge of the natural world, and providing access to natural and organic foods and products.

I was drawn to working at The Herbal Path to learn more about clinical herbalism, and to expand my knowledge of natural remedies. I was also excited to learn more about nutritional supplements, vitamins and the multitude of other natural products we carry. I enjoy helping people feel better and sharing more about the ways they can take care of their health.

My favorite plant(s) are mushrooms! I love to forage for edible and medicinal mushrooms; they are truly incredible organisms that act almost like an immune-system of the forests, and have many benefits to our immunity as well!

Herbalist Maggie in garden

Maggie

Dover Herbalist

Maggie (they/them) grew up in Northern Virginia, and studied Environmental Studies and German at the University of Vermont. After graduation, they returned to Virginia, where they spent several years working on a regenerative vegetable farm that also grew herbs. Their love of herbs, which awakened early on in college, was rekindled. In 2024, Maggie completed a 400 hour herbal internship at Fox Haven Farm in Southern Maryland.

Maggie moved to the Seacoast in early 2025. They are thrilled to be working with herbs and helping people (re)connect with natural medicine.

When Maggie isn't at The Herbal Path or their part time job at a small herb shop in Exeter, they can often be found hanging out with their cat, spending time with family and friends, making a mess in the kitchen, and exploring the outdoors.

Maggie's favorite plant is a wild blueberry, which they were excited to discover (and sample) grows all over the region!
